I think Merb is production ready, although datamapper is a little more sketchy. Migrations in DataMapper are still destructive as far as I know (although I haven't used it for a bit). I like Merb. It's like running hiking without shoes- you're gonna get some scratches, but you feel a lot more closer to the earth.
