+1 on what Patrick and Matt have said. The problem is that there is a war on between spammers and email providers. To keep up in that war you need to either a) have a full time expert that keeps your messages deliverable or b) hire out to a third party that does. If email is critical to the business (looks like it might be) then it is an area you need to pay a little for.
Authsmtps rates are not bad... once you realize that they mean yearly and not monthly (had me going for a while ;-) What I've found to be the most reliable and fast is to setup Exim (or postfix) to forward all messages on through the Authsmtp. That way the local setup is just sendmail, and everything goes into the local queue and then on to the provider. By the way "spoofing" the addresses is possible, but a very bad practice. Even if everything else about your message is legit, if you spoof your clients emails you run afoul of the USA's anti spamming laws. Not to mention asurring a crummy reputation for your site.
