I'm all for for a Merb specific event for at least one of the days, and yes the first Merb event would be nice. In September there is also the Europe RailsConf, and the Lone Star Ruby Conference, as well as the Ruby Hoedown in late August. So there are plenty of Ruby/Rails options out there. Having a Merb event would help differentiate us from some of other conferences.
I also like the idea of it being similar to BarCamp, the unconf nature would attract a lot more people IMO and provide a different vibe than other conferences. A vibe that I feel would be more San Diegan than others. Also, since Merb is still young and evolving, having a full organized conference might foster as much conversation as a BarCamp type event. Having a Merb specific event isn't to say we can't have a Rails or Ruby event as well down the road, but I think its a great place to start. - Dominic On May 22, 2008, at 2:32 PM, Matt Aimonetti wrote: > FYI people, we are taking comments, suggestions, even insults.
