OK. How do I handle an rpm package on OS X? (The Generic Linux version is an RPM package.) Also, I guess I'd have to figure out what kind of compile flags I'd need for compiling to 64-bit, etc. I'm definitely getting in over my head here...

Thanks, Ken

afaik linux source is the same as any source. if you want to compile from source the "generic linux source" is all you need. That said, you should checkout homebrew which will compile it for you. A lot of people like it, including me. http://github.com/mxcl/homebrew

The source code should determine compile flags for you. Just download the 64 bit version of source code for your architecture.

Hi All,

I upgraded my Macbook Pro from Leopard to Snow Leopard and am having issues with MySQL. It looks like I need to install the 64-bit version. I've been searching high and low for the OS X MySQL source code but I can't find it anywhere. You'd think it would be at http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/ but if you choose the drop down for "Mac OS X" the options are only binary files and dmg files. I'd like to use Dan Benjamin's excellent instructions at http://hivelogic.com/articles/compiling-mysql-on-snow-leopard for my install. Compiling MySQL has worked great for me in the past but I can't find the source. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Ken
