Hi Rafael,
  We can talk more about it tonight, but I'd recommend getting folks set up
by using the VMWare image and instructions found at
http://notch8.com/tutorial.html.  I built the image to be a simple uniform
Ubuntu install that has RVM, Git, a bunch of editor choices and Rails 3
already installed and configured.  We used it at the Madison Rails group
"newbie" night and it went very well.  I'd be happy to provide DVD's with
the image and installers for the next event.
