You still code for browsers below ie8? (this is the reason the web is not 
evolving!!!!! /rant).

in all seriousness, the only downside I've experienced, is the fact the users 
that are stuck using said awful browsers, are required to run thru a 
download/install process. And typically, those users aren't exactly experienced 
in such a process. I wonder what the success rate of a chrome frame funnel 
looks like.
