Well, actually it *can* hurt.  It takes time and effort to try out a new
language or package or platform.

So... you first gotta decide if it's a reasonable prospect for your problem
space.  If the answer is yes, *then* you try it out - on a pilot basis with
something that's small enough that you can explore the technology and get a
real understanding of it on a legitimate sample problem, but with some
control over the time and risk involved.

That said, I think it's significantly easier to learn and try out Rails than
it is to learn Zope, so if this team has competent python/zope skills they
shouldn't have too much trouble picking up rails.  The Zope world has been
sadly lacking in good documentation and reference books, which happily is
not an issue for RoR.
