Spam filters (e.g., Gmail's, the client I use) often ignore
attachments. So what the spam I've been getting lately consists of is
legitimate text picked up from random sites around the Internet
concatenated together. Then all the spammy content is in the GIF,
using CAPTCHA-style image processing techniques to make it hard to
OCR. Gmail's spam filter sucks at filtering this stuff out. I'm
getting several a day in my inbox now.

It is definitely a challenge to filter that kind of spam. In defense of
Gmail, I'm pretty pleased that it handles it as well as it does. But
there's always room for improvement.

If you can come up with something better, then great. Sounds like an
interesting challenge for Ruby!
