yea i do - some obvious things:

1. shared hosting wont work - get a rimu slice at $30 to start, work
your way to a quad if necessary. http://rimuhosting.com/
2. Use RAWK http://rubyforge.org/scm/?group_id=2517 for log analysis -
good way to analyze real world performance..
3. Use a mongrel cluster - mongrel is single threaded [technically
rails is] so you have to instantiated multiple instances of it and use
a reverse proxy such as nginx or apache. Lots of documentatino on this
