When I try to make the initial install into the couple datasets, I get a IWMAM044 service definition not valid error message with a 3D25 return code. This is the very first service definition we are trying to install. I have been through the resources and scheduling environments multiple times and cannot see a problem. All scheduling environments have a resource and all resources are in the correct scheduling environment. The initial dataset (PDS) containing the workload definition is the Cheryl Watson quickstart, with modifications for our site. I contacted the WLM folks, sent them a copy of the PDS, and they have not responded. I have opened a PMR (20382)with IBM, and also them them a copy of the PDS. They said their 2.8 WLM can't read our 2.9 WLM dataset. Do you have any idea what could be causing the problem? I will send a copy of the PDS or service definition if you wish. ANSWER: A few things to consider: Do you know for a fact that the couple data sets are at the current level? You might want to follow the procedure in the WLM planning manual for upgrading the WLM CDSs. Once you know that the CDSs are compatible with release 9, try loading the service definition again. If it works, you're done. If it doesn't work, try slicing and dicing the servdef to eliminate a piece at a time--perhaps starting with the scheduling environments. (General procedure: load from the master version in the PDF, remove something, save under a different name, attempt to load into the CDS.) Once you've isolated the part that doesn't work, you can debug the localized content with much less effort. In other words, problem determination must precede diagnosis. Check also for warning messages as you bring up each piece in Modify mode. You might have a PDS version that hasn't been fully valiodated by IWMARIN0. ===================================== ASK THE EXPERTS ===================================== Do you have a question for Steve?
