WRITING JAVA CLASSES FOR 3270/5250 | Advice: search390

I'm writing Java classes for 3270/5250 screen scraping. Is there any
advantage in going for IBM's HACL classes?

NO MAN CAN SERVE 2 MASTERS BUT CICS CAN MASTER 2 SERVERS (FTP) | Tip:
Jim Keohane

There' s a maneuver known as "third party FTP" whereby an FTP client
can open 2 socket (CONTROL) connections to two different FTP servers
and have them transfer files between themselves over a DATA
connection. From CICS you can skip the FTP client and just write some
socket code. Play dominatrix and have the servers do the heavy
lifting!

THE MISSING LINK | Keeping a who's-naughty list

They know when you've been stealing. They know when you've skipped
school. They know when you have sassy mouth, so be good, don't break
the rule. OK, that's a lame attempt to "Santa Claus is Coming to
Town"ify this story, but police in London are getting downright North
Polar on kids over there. Any youngster who demonstrates criminal
potential will go on the law's "naughty list" -- a delinquency
database that will track kids' behavior. Police and community workers
will keep an eye on the naughty and use the info to study why good
kids go bad and recommend therapy or substance abuse treatment
programs.
