THE RESOURCEFULNESS OF MIDDLE TIERS | Tip: Jim Keohane

Middle tiers (MT) can quickly assemble and synopsize relevant data,
ascertain criticality, assign limited resources, etc. with the intent
of maximizing service and responsiveness before passing on web
requests to the mainframe tier 1. MT usually has cpu cycles to spare
whereas the mainframe has the comparatively pea-sized brain of a
hulking dinosaur. So shouldn't the MT being doing the conversion,
translation, parsing, caching,

THE MISSING LINK | Evil Bert site scrapped after Bin Laden boob

"It freaked me out!" That's why Dino Ignacio, creator of the "Bert is
Evil" Web site, has shut the site down. Ignacio created it to spoof
the resident banana head on "Sesame Street," superimposing pictures
of Ernie's roomie with history's most infamous baddies, including
Hitler, Dahmer and bin Laden. But when pictures of Bert and bin Laden
started showing up at anti-US protests in Asia, Ignacio drew the
line. He says this is a case of life imitating spoof a little too
closely. (vnunet)
