It's no secret that getting precious legacy applications on the Web is a concern for many mainframers. Doing this is almost inevitable in the world of e-everything, but how to do it is up to you. XML is one option. The extensible markup language is gaining popularity because it's not as hard to learn as Java, and is actually a simpler and easier-to-use subset of the Standard Generalized Markup Language. It is expected that HTML and XML will be used together in many Web applications, so with the future calling for legacy applications connecting with the Web, XML is an important skill to have in your quiver. To learn more about XML, check out this week's featured topic.
