I'd like to introduce the premier TCP/IP and SNA performance monitor, Vital Signs VisionNet (VSV). VSV is the only monitor with a single, central repository capable of reporting on both OS/390 (or z/OS) and non-OS/390 devices. VSV provides detailed reports on TCP/IP status, FTP, CSM efficiency, Socket activity, and Telnet activity, at considerably lower prices than competing products. However, for many, it isn't worth the effort. Some think porting to Linux is much easier thanks to the shared heritage of the open source OS and its cousin Unix. Do you agree? We zeroed in on using JAVA based second generation connectors(CTG) rather than the screen scraping ones keeping our long term business objectives under view. What we want to know is: 1)Do we have to tamper with the existing CICS applications that need to be web-enabled to provide for a COMMAREA interface and then use CTG to connect to business logic using this COMMAREA interface? 2)Does CTG provides a mechanism in which the COMMAREA interface for the existing applications is automatically created which then links to the business logic? If this is the case then we needn't touch the existing CICS application in which the presentation and business logic are highly interwined. >>CLICK here for Jim Keohane's response: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid429026_tax285032,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= search390 DISCUSSION FORUM | Developer search390 member ArunKS posted this question in our developer forum: I have been programming in C in UNIX and Windows. My next project is in MVS/390. I need to port an application in UNIX which is used to poll a directory looking for files with a certain extension... In its MVS form, the application would look for files with predefined HLQs. The findfirst/findnext & opendir do not seem to work in MVS. The program has to be in C. How can I list files (PS/PDS) with a particular HLQ? Do you have an answer for ArunKS? If so, post it in the developer forum by clicking here: http://search390.discussions.techtarget.com/WebX?[EMAIL PROTECTED]^[email protected]/342!viewtype=convdate&skip=&expand= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE MISSING LINK | Canadian robbers call a very wrong number Shoulda used the keyguard! Three British-Columbian burglars bungled a job when their wireless ratted them out. In the heat of holdup, one burglar's cell phone got roughed up and redialed the last number. Bad call. An answering machine picked up and promptly recorded everything. The owner of the answering machine made a call to the police. The tattle-telling tape has made its way from the answering machine and is now being played on Vancouver radio. The three robbers can be heard telling the victim "you're being jacked," and arguing over how to divvy up the whopping $100.
