;) Greetings, I'm here to announce that search390's tips contest is back! For those of you who are unfamiliar with how the contest works, let me explain. Each month, search390 will give a prize away to the user-submitted tip that receives the highest rating from search390's experts and the search390 user base. You can submit a tip in any of our tips categories: WebSphere, Developer, CICS, Systems Management, etc. And the neat thing is, your tip needn't be long--whatever time saving tip or trick you've come up with that you think will be of value to the 390 community. It's that simple! Once your tip is submitted and approved, it will get posted to our site under its specific category. Then, search390 users get to view and rate the tip. If your tip receives the highest rating at the end of the contest date (Feb 16 for this month's contest), you win! This month's prize is an awesome PenCam 64 MBmini digital camera. It has the same capabilities as a full size digital camera, yet is small enough to fit into your shirt pocket. So, if you've always wanted to be the next Sherlock Holmes, here's your chance. Send in your tip(s) today. Not only will you be helping your peers by sharing your valuable knowledge, but you'll have a chance to take home a really neat prize as well. Good luck and have a great week. |

If your entire operating universe is a single load module, it's clear how one portion can invoke the services of another. It's done via a static CALL to a specified NAME passing input parameters and expecting back output parameters and other return and/or global values. But what if CALLER and CALLEE were written in different languages? Read on to find out how Web services can help solve data-swapping issues and ease other programmers' burdens. |

| Tip of the Week: |
| REXX for CICS (a.k.a. CICS/REXX) has been around since '94. IBM dropped it in '97 but later introduced a new version in 1999. It's now an integral part of CICS TS (Transaction Services). For some reason it's largely still a secret. Why? Beats me. |
