LEAD STORY

IBM DEBUTS 'AFFORDABLE' MAINFRAME | News: search390

IBM is touting a new lower-price mainframe it says will lure
customers who find the price tag of a traditional mainframe out of
reach. One analyst says it's a good deal for mid-range shops that
want the system design but don't necessarily need the processing
power or speed.

mainframe sales are sold that way.

Q&A: RANGER GOVERNANCE STILL WATCHING CA | News: CRN
Many people probably forgot about Ranger Governance after its failed

THE MISSING LINK | Jamaican jails going online

Prisoners doing hard time in Jamaica are bustin' out -- into
cyberspace. Two of Kingston's clinks are going to be wired up.
Inmates will be able to surf from the slammer and get a taste of the
outside world. Prison officials say Net access will help the cons
improve their minds, their social skills and their work skills. Their
surfing will be monitored, though. For example, visits to
www.diggingtunnelswithaspoon.com will be forbidden.
