WHAT IS IMPLIED SEQUENTIAL POSITIONING IN COBOL? | by Gerhard Adam

Dear Ask the Expert,
I read in the batch LSR subsystem guide (GC28-1469-00) that implied
sequential positioning is incompatible with batch LSR. Would you
explain in a COBOL context what is implied sequential positioning?

HELP WITH CICS AFTER MIGRATING FROM V4.10 TO TS 1.3?| by Ken Davies

Dear Ask the Expert,
We are migrating CICS from V4.10 to TS 1.3. After reading IBM's
Redbooks about migration, I've two questions about the changes.

1. We've encountered system changes like DCT, RCT and Log. But for
applications, we didn't see imperative changes caused by obsolete
orders. Did we forget anything?

2. This version allows TSname with 16 characters (QNAME). Will future
versions make the 8 characters name (QUEUE) obsolete?

SEARCH390 DISCUSSION FORUMS | Operating Systems

Search390 member "frankf" posted the following in the Operating
Systems forum: "I'm attempting to get the velocity goals set fairly
close before switching to goal mode. What's the easiest way to plot
the PGN execution velocities shown in the RMF Workload Activity
report? We have a sysplex still in compat mode (in "gray mode").
Rather than just looking at the Ex Vel% value for any given interval
and performance group I would like to see something like a graph of a
24-hour period. Will RMF Spreadsheet Reporter show this or is there
another way to reduce this data?"

Think you know the answer? If so, please share your thoughts and post
a response in our Operating Systems forum:
