CONFIGURE ORB LISTENER SERVICE | by Steven Swoyer

Those who've deployed WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 4.0 Advanced
Edition (AE) behind a firewall have probably also specified default
ports on your firewall for WAS AS' Bootstrap, Location Service Daemon
(LSD) and Object Request Broker (ORB) listener services, among
others.

You've done so because you know that your firewall will restrict any
and all external traffic destined for ports that haven't been
configured to accept inbound connections.

The rub, of course, is that client EJBs may not be able to abide by
WAS AS' default settings when a firewall is thrown into the mix. This
is because some of WAS AS' default settings aren't exactly firewall
friendly.
