An approach of this kind makes a lot of sense if you need to consolidate WAS 3.5.x and WAS 4.0.x on a single box or LPAR for testing or development purposes, or if you're testing and certifying WAS 3.5.x applications for a future WAS 4.0.x migration. For production purposes, and in cases in which performance, availability and security aren't of paramount concern, you may also choose to run multiple instances of either WAS 3.5.x or WAS 4.0.x on the same server or LPAR. >> CLICK for the full tip: http://www.search390.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci818755,00.html Got a Websphere tip to share with your peers? I have to download a dataset member from MVS to PC via FTP. This is metacode file (Xerox print language for their printers) that mixes EBCDIC and binary codes, so the transfer should respect every byte and also the record structure. I wonder if you know how the session should be configured to address this problem (we have tried without success). >> CLICK for Jim's answer: http://search390.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid10_cid463395_tax285032,00.html Do you have a Web integration question for Jim? We're thinking that an ODBC or JDBC driver would work, but we haven't found any such thing. Any suggestions? We do have Oracle Transparent Gateway, but my understanding is that it goes from distributed to host, not the reverse and not bi-directional." Think you know the answer?
