HOW TO START NEW TRANSACTION WITH CORRECT STARTCODE? | by Jose Flores
Dear Ask the Expert,
The problem we are having is in the bridge exit, when a transaction
is ending via a return immediate or a start. The brxa-nexttranid
contains the tranid of the next transaction and the
brxa-nexttranid-source indicates that the transaction is to be
"started." We send a message via MQ back to the client to start the
next transaction. The client then sends a message back to start the
next transaction. When the bridge exit is invoked with the new
transaction, the brxa-startcode contains the value "TD" instead of
"SD." How can we start the new transaction with the correct
startcode?

DO I HAVE TO USE COBOL3 WHEN COMPILING CICS PROGRAMS? | by Tom Ross
Dear Ask the Expert,
We are trying to migrate from COBOL II 4.0 to COBOL for OS/390 & VM
2.2. Our exercise does not involve recompiling all programs, only
some. When compiling CICS programs, do I have to use COBOL3 as a parm
for the translator step?

SEARCH390 DISCUSSION FORUMS | Developer
Search390 member "PeteMeers" posted the following in the Developer
discussion forum and received a thread of responses: "I have a DB2
table which triggers a stored procedure in COBOL. The stored
procedure passes the row received from the trigger to an MQ. The
problem is this: The COBOL program does not retain the connection to
the MQ for each invocation. I have to reconnect to the MQ each time
the stored procedure is triggered. It works but is very slow (30ms)."
