LEAD STORY

SUN INVESTIGATED FOR DISCRIMINATION | News: vnunet

The U.S. Justice and Labor Departments are investigating Sun
Microsystems on allegations that it discriminated against US workers
when it laid off 3,900 staff last year. A former Sun engineer claims
U.S. workers were let go while foreign workers, with the
controversial H-1B visa, were kept on.

DELTA REVAMPS SUPPLY CHAIN SOFTWARE PLAN | News: cw360
Delta Air Lines has postponed one leg of a major supply chain
software roll-out involving applications from SAP and Xelus. Instead,
Delta delayed the SAP deployment and went ahead with the installation
of a specialized spare-parts management application from Xelus.
However, that required Delta to integrate the Xelus tool with the
mainframe-based homegrown materials management system that is
eventually, supposed to be replaced by SAP's software.

SEARCH390 DISCUSSION FORUMS | Operating Systems

Is there a way to tell FTP to ignore the <CR> and <LF> in the source
ASCII file? This question was recently posed by Search390 member
"Samaga" in the Operating Systems forum: "The problem is exchanging
data files between Unix and MVS. One set of files is in ASCII (with
<CR> and <LF>) format. The other set is EBCDIC format...The EBCDIC
files transfer works ok, but there is an issue with ASCII files
whereby we have to strip off the control characters <CR> and <LF>
from each line. If these are not taken out, the datasets on the
mainframe contain extraneous and empty lines. Is there an option to
tell FTP to ignore the <CR> and <LF> in the source ASCII file?"
