Yesterday kicked off the SHARE summer session (Aug 18-23) in San Francisco, CA. If you're not familiar with the organization, SHARE is the "original" IT users' group which, in addition to many other things, hosts educational and networking events. This week's event will bring together thousands of IBM enterprise systems professionals for a week of technical education, information exchange, new product information and solution sharing. It's a great way to sharpen your skills, meet your peers and network. For more information, go to www.share.org.

I will be there all week and would love to meet Search390.com's members. My plan is to talk to you and find out what's important to you, what's going on in your day-to-day life and what challenges you are running into. Basically, I'd like to know what keeps you awake at night. So, if you're going to be at the show and you see me walking around wearing my Search390.com denim shirt and hat, stop by and say hello. If you're not planning on attending the event, send me an email and tell me what your current challenges are and what type of information you need to help you deal with those challenges.

Bringing you the right information to help make your job easier is my main priority.

So, meet me in San Francisco!

BJ

>> BPXWM Messages
Search390 member JL2889 needs help with BPXWM Messages. Here's the post:
I'm trying to install some of the tools from the Open Software page and started getting an error message (see the error message in the original post). I can't seem to find any information on this message series. I read in an IBM ptf doc there are 25 messages in this series that have not been documented yet. Can anyone provide any information and suggestions? We are running z/OS 1.0.3
Can you help? If so, please post your response.

Tip of the Week:
WebSphere Strategies Tip: Programmatic logouts
By Stephen Swoyer

Java Class FormLoginServlet offers a great way to facilitate Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication services in WebSphere Application Server (WAS) v4.x. It's typically implemented by creating generic login pages to which client users are redirected if they haven't already been authenticated. Once they log in, the FormLoginServlet authenticates them by placing a SSO token in a cookie.

This is all well and good for most authentication scenarios. On the flip side, Class FormLogoutServlet, which facilitates the task of logging out -- i.e., of removing a user's successful authentication -- works very well insofar as users themselves initiate logouts....
