LEAD STORY

WEBSPHERE 5.0 RELEASE DELAYED | News: cw360

IBM has pushed back the release date for its WebSphere version 5.0
application server until the end of November. According to a source
IBM wants to emphasize ease of development by delivering the tools to
upgrade first. It is also possible that the WebSphere team needed
more time to test and debug the product across multiple platforms.

THE MISSING LINK | China gags Google

Blocked in Beijing, shunned in Shanghai -- there is no "googling" in
China. The government has evidently pulled the search engine off the
tracks. It seems the politicians don't care for the content Google
pulls up, particularly pornography, anything associated with the
banned spiritual movement Falun Gong and information believed to be a
threat to national security. So the government has thrown up some
kind of great firewall to keep Google out. But there is a workaround.
Chinese surfers can hop on Yahoo, which is still available and uses
Google for searches.
