LEAD STORY

FINANCIAL FIRM TO INTEGRATE CRM SYSTEM WITH AS/400S, MAINFRAMES |
News: Computerworld

Large financial services firm Countrywide Credit has embarked on a
multi-year implementation of Siebel 7 CRM. Its toughest challenge,
though, is integrating new applications with existing ones that run
on IBM AS/400s and mainframes to gain a single view of customers
through one interface.

IBM TO OPEN SOURCE EIM SINGLE SIGN-ON | News: iSeriesNetwork
IBM is pushing an initiative to make its Enterprise Identity Mapping
(EIM) capability for single sign-on available for even non-IBM
platforms. The EIM function is already slated for rollout in all of
IBM's operating systems, including the OS/400 and z/OS and it will
likely also find its way into many of IBM's software initiatives,
including Tivoli, WebSphere and grid services. Free registration

ALLIANCE UNITES SIEBEL PROCESSES AND WEBSPHERE SOFTWARE | News: eWEEK

Business integration software.

SEPTEMBER 11 INFLUENCE ON DR PLANS FADING | News: SearchStorage.com
Disaster recovery and backup plans. After the terrorist attacks last
September, the industry was convinced businesses would be frantically
implementing them. It didn't happen. The reason? One analyst says
it's the lack of money and maybe, for some, the memory of the
devastation is fading.

THE MISSING LINK | Mom, where did you put Merlin and Zork? Old games
get new life on eBay

Got software that's as dated as one of George Hamilton's leisure
suits? Excellent -- because vintage is good! One guy who's been
collecting (hoarding) software for 20 years is blowing the dust off
250,000 titles and putting them up for auction on eBay. More than
half of his apps came out before 1990, and many of them are games
that were designed for Apple II, Amiga, Atari, Commodore 64, CP/M,
Macs and other classic machines. Getting misty yet? Most of this rare
software is in its original packaging and will be up for bid through
Sept. 17.
