HOW TO ACCESS CICS AND OS/390 APPS FROM LINUX? | by Jan Lahmann

Dear Ask the Expert,
I've read that it's possible to access OS/390 applications from
Linux. However, is it possible to fully integrate an existing CICS
application and a new Linux application? That is, not only start the
CICS application but also send and receive data, trap errors, etc.,
as if I'm calling it from within CICS. Would it require changes to
the CICS application?

Dear Ask the Expert,
I am transfering 4M bytes of data through FTP to a remote location.
Would using MQSeries for this kind of transfer be beneficial to me?
In particular, what would be the difference in the time it takes for
each?

SEARCH390.COM DISCUSSION FORUMS | Developer

Search390.com user "misi01" posted the following in the Developer
forum and received a thread of responses: "Is there a way to run a
batch job that edits a file (say COBOL source) AND that automatically
runs a specific edit macro (i.e., the same as if I edited the code by
hand and entered the macro command on the command line)?"
