Don't be pushed! There's a much smarter alternative to costly retraining of COBOL and PL/I developers and re-engineering systems. IONA integrates mainframe-based applications into an e-business system via a service-oriented architecture (SOA) approach. DOWNLOAD THE WHITE PAPER to learn why global leaders like Credit Suisse are choosing the SOA alternative. http://search390.com/r/0,,7636,00.htm?IONAwhitepaper ___________________________________________________________________ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= HEY CICS, CAN WE PSEUDO-TALK? | by Jim Keohane What do you do when you find that normally efficient CICS 3270 applications written in a pseudo-conversational style, once Web-enabled, start consuming mass quantities of CPU cycles? Simple. Just violate long-established rules about avoiding conversational mode programming or, skip the 3270 Web bridge and go for the much more efficient 3270 bridge underneath. >> CLICK for the full tip: http://www.search390.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci863905,00.html Love this tip? Just don't do what Jim Keohane did and confuse "CICS 3270 Bridge" with the "CICS 3270 Web Bridge." The first is a lean, mean dancing machine. The latter requires an environmental and performance impact statement before implementation. >> CLICK for full tip: http://search390.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid10_gci822878,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= PERFORMANCE TUNING | Search390.com TargetSearch If you need help measuring, monitoring or tuning system performance, check out these TargetSearch results for tips and expert advice. http://search390.techtarget.com/search/1,293876,sid10,00.html?query=performance+tuning =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= HOW IS DISPLAY STATEMENT INTERPRETED BY CICS? | Developer forum Search390.com user "Samaga" posted the following in the Developer forum and received several responses: "I have written an environment-independent program. By this, I mean it can be called in both CICS and batch mode. In this program, I have DISPLAY statements (for debugging). Until the other day, this was working fine when called in CICS. Now I'm getting an 'AZI6' abend at the offset where DISPLAY is written. What could be the reason for this?" >> CLICK to read the full discussion: http://search390.discussions.techtarget.com/WebX?[EMAIL PROTECTED]@.ee83ff7/624 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= TAKE OUR POLL | Search390.com Is Linux still the wave of the future? >> CLICK to post your response: http://search390.techtarget.com/poll ____________________________________________________________________ :::::::::::::::::::: SEARCH390.COM CONTACTS :::::::::::::::::::::::: BJ RAMA, Site Editor (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) >> Send us your original articles and best practices.
