 From the Editor:

by BJ Rama, Site Editor

It's that time of year again. Time to make resolutions for the new year and to try to predict what will happen in 2003. I've made my predictions and I'll share them with each of you shortly. For now, though, it's your turn.

Take a deep look into your IT crystal ball and tell me what you see. What are the hot topics and technologies going to be next year? What do you see happening in the mainframe space that will be different from before? Are there certain topics and/or words that you think we're going to hear often next year - or do you think things will stay pretty much stay the same?

Send me your predictions for next year. I'll gather your thoughts and use them for an upcoming article on Search390.com. Down the road, it'll be fun to look back and see just how right - or wrong - we all were.

Have a good week.

BJ

Tip of the Week:
Teach your z/OS batch apps to submit
By Jim Keohane

Have you ever seen an operator (or TSO user with sufficient authority) issue MODIFY or STOP commands to a running batch job? The MODIFY command (abbreviated F) is used to send information or a command to a running batch job. The STOP command (abbreviated P) can be considered a special case of sending a fixed "STOP" command.
