Tip of the Week: Fulfill your CPI-C duty Marketing said a new product Jim was developing needed to support SNA (System Network Architecture) access between platforms and not just IP (Internet Protocol). They had gravitated toward CPI-C (Common Programming Interface For Communications) and it close kin APPC/MVS (Advanced Program-to-Program Communication/MVS). What came back from initial beta testers and other bleeding edgers was that APPC was nowhere near commonplace in the big iron shops. Oh, they were SNA bigots, for sure, but APPC didn't appeal to them. Though it significantly eased SNA LU6.2 development it was an administrative headache and a performance consideration. Well, things have changed.
