LEAD STORY

LINUX USERS LIKELY TO STAY COURSE AS IBM COUNTERSUES | Search390.com
IBM this week reacted to SCO's move to offer licenses for its Linux
code by filing a countersuit. Big Blue alleges that SCO infringed on
four of its patents and breached the General Public License for
Linux. The new suit, however, isn't likely to affect customers' use
of the open-source operating system.

IBM WOOS DELL CUSTOMERS | eWEEK
At its Solutions conference in Las Vegas this week, IBM will announce
a larger investment in developer resources and enhancements for its
WebSphere Application Server. The improvements include a developer
Web site offering free software and technical support for WebSphere
and an initiative to bundle WebSphere and Lotus Development Corp.'s
Domino. Such a move is seen as a way to combat the impression that
IBM "manufactures and develops things but isn't really partnering," a
company official said.

WAS FOR Z/OS | Web Integration

I am a non-mainframe developer investigating the applicability of WAS
for z/OS. I have found much information about connecting to IMS and
CICS code from WAS for z/OS but nothing regarding COBOL code running
under CICS, IMS/DC or in batch calling EJBs. Could you elaborate?

THE MISSING LINK | I told you never to call while I'm working!

Worshippers in Yemen may have felt sympathy for the man begging for
change at their mosque. But that sympathetic vibe quickly changed. In
fact, it died right around the time his cell phone came alive and
rang from deep inside his bag. Evidently, he forgot to turn it off
(or set it to vibrate) before he went to "work" begging. The Yemeni
news agency Saba reports that the bogus beggar took off right after
the ill-timed call. The guy is hardly destitute -- there are only
about five telephones, landline and mobile, for every 100 people in
Yemen. (Reuters)
