DEVELOPING A GUI APP FOR SCROLLING THROUGH EVENTS | Web Integration

We have a user department that would like us to develop a GUI
application that would present (consolidated) data normally displayed
on a number of green screens (12 or so). My immediate thought was
CICS Web services. Is it possible to develop an application using
drop-down boxes and check boxes for the user to "drill down" into a
particular case?

CONSOLE VS. GUI-BASED MAINFRAME APPLICATIONS | DB2/Database
Management

I was wondering if you could let me know whether the majority of
mainframe applications sold these days are console-based or
GUI-based. In your opinion which of the above two alternatives is
more effective, both in terms of being user-friendly and being
functional? Going forward, is there going to be a trend towards
PC-based GUI applications for mainframes?

ROLLBACK CHANGES COMING UNDONE | DB2/Database Management

I have a cursor that selects "n" rows from a table based on certain
conditions. If there is any error while processing, the updates to
the table are rolled back and continue processing with the next
fetched row. But, rollback is forcing the cursor to close, which
gives a -501 error. How do I handle this?

FEATURED TIP | Throwing eggs at spammers

Novant Health started fighting spam almost by accident. The company,
which manages health care facilities in North Carolina, needed
encryption tools to comply with new federal regulations regarding the
handling of patient data. The Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act requires companies to add layers of security to
information architecture, so that prying eyes can't see patient
information.

FAST GUIDE TO IT HUMOR | Assortment of the best IT-related humor

According to Andrew Carnegie, "There's little success where there's
little laughter." That would seem to suggest to us that most
presentations are not very successful, and could be vastly improved
by the leavening agent of humor. With that in mind we've gathered an
assortment of the best IT-related humor we could find. We've got
jokes, cartoons, quotations, a PowerPoint section and more to jazz up
your presentations and have your audience eating out of your hand.
