THE MISSING LINK
'Soft' a sore spot for Microsoft

Dorothy has aroused the wrath of the great and powerful Oz once again. Playing the part of Dorothy in this drama is a teenager from Canada named Mike Rowe. Young Mike created a Web site to advertise his services as a Web designer. But MikeRowe.com wasn't enough for him. He added the word "soft." Yep, MikeRoweSoft.com. Have you seen this movie before? When the Almighty Oz, played in this case by Microsoft, found out, it gave Mike an earful, played the copyright card and demanded the domain. Mike asked for $10,000 in return, but Redmond refused. Mike has been ignoring the company's e-mails ever since. There's no telling how this will end, but Mike can take comfort in the fact that Lindows.com is still wearing its ruby slippers. (Ananova)
