OH, THOSE OS/390 E-MAIL BLUES | Troubleshooting System 390

Our mainframe sits behind a firewall and therefore does not have a
real world IP address or e-mail domain name. As an anti-spam measure,
some ISPs require a reverse lookup before accepting an e-mail message
to ensure that it came from a valid IP address and/or e-mail domain.
This test fails on our mainframe-generated e-mail to some ISPs
because the origination information in the header will not pass the
reverse lookup. Do you have any suggestions?

HOW TO BULK E-MAIL USING FLAT FILE | Troubleshooting System 390

I need to e-mail the salary statements of all the employees (approx.
3,500) from S/390. I also have another flat file which has the
employee numbers and their e-mail addresses. Using SMTP, I am able to
send e-mail to individual users by making changes in a JCL. But how
do I achieve the same for bulk mailing using the flat file?

FEATURED TIP | E-mail for everybody

Some of the last bastions of the paper-based world are entering the
digital age. E-mail -- a productivity messaging tool that most
workers will tell you they simply cannot live without -- is now being
pushed for the estimated 30% of the worldwide work force that doesn't
have an inbox, much less a desk.
