A case against using a Marist College Linux system
[David Boyes]
A user asked: We have a Marist College Linux system about to be installed. We are having problems with the VI editor because it is not recognizing the commands. Is this a keyboard problem? We are using HOD as the mainframe access to a Telnet client. Also can we run LINUX as a 64M LPAR?

SAP R/3 vs. z/Linux
[David Boyes]
A user asked: Are you seeing organizations move application servers SAP R/3 to z/Linux and what do you think about this?

Making Linux go faster
[David Boyes]
A user asked: I run several Linux distributions (Red Hat 7.2, SLES 7.2) under z/VM 3.1 on a MP3000 H30. When I fire up a TOMCAT servlet engine on a Linux server and load some servlets, I experience high CPU utilization that affects VM performance across the board. Will a migration to z/VM version 4.4 resolve this?

Tools to automate and share
[David Boyes]
A user asked: We are using StorageTek 9310 library station with units 9840, 9940 (emulated in z/OS as 3490). Can the drives be used by z/Linux Suse running under z/VM and shared with z/OS partition?
