A user asked: According to the Unix guy, FTP only works on character data for variable length files. Therefore, everything in the file we get has been turned into char values. It's hard for me to believe that FTP has this limitation with variable length files. Would you know of the Unix FTP command and parms to do this or a way around it?

A user asked: We need to transfer XML files to the mainframe and create a report user requested. How can we extract only the data portion from the XML file without all the tags? We were trying FTP but we can't read the text file.

A user asked: Is it possible to use, for one FTP mainframe, (VM/VSE OS/390) VSE file to Windows 2000 server with option site RWD? FTP use is connectivity system running on VSE partition. The option of FTP is necessary to an option. Is there another parameter with the same function?

Trying to FTP files from UNIX to MVS

A user asked: Is there a way to FTP files from UNIX to MVS and vice versa using public/private keys? The reason for doing this is that we don't want to create a hidden file on the UNIX side where we store the password.
