FEATURED TIP | Is IT really a man's world?

Women in IT is a paradox. On one hand, the field doesn't attract a
lot of women but on the other hand it offers a lot of things such as
flexibility that women would find attractive.

MOVING FROM LE FOR OS/390 1.1 TO LE FOR OS/390 2.10 | Ask the Expert

A Search390.com user asked Tom Ross, our COBOL, PL/I and LE for S/390
expert:

"We are converting our CICS regions from LE 1.1 to LE 2.10.
Everything is working fine except for a vendor product (TEXTDBMS)
that is now consuming large amounts of storage and causing the region
to go SOS. But, back in the old LE runtime libraries and everything
works fine. The vendor product is primarily PL/I, but our shop is
mostly COBOL. Are there any run-time options that I may have set
incorrectly going from 1.1 to 2.10?"

THE MISSING LINK | When outsourcing attacks

If you're going to outsource, make sure your nose is super clean.
More importantly, make sure your computer is super clean and your
hard drive is fully clothed. Bank of Ireland CEO Michael Soden quit
last week after admitting he looked at adult Web sites on his office
computer. It turns out, the people who found the smut (during
"routine maintenance") are the same irate IT people Soden outsourced
to Hewlett-Packard. Evidently, they didn't want to be HP employees
and lose their cool bank perks. Could they have been out to get the
CEO? Who knows, but one thing is for certain -- you won't read this
in any of HP's outsourcing brochures. (The Register)
