WebSphere add-on to help manage resources

IBM is extending its WebSphere of influence, creating an add-on that should help corporate customers better use back-end equipment to support business applications. The WebSphere Extended Deployment leans on the mainframe to help tame volatile or unexpected situations, such as heavy usage or market changes. The add-on should be available in Q4.

Big Blue leads IT services pack

IBM is still king of the IT services hill. According to some 2003 figures from Gartner, Big Blue owns 7.5% of the market. Gartner also found that the world spent $569 billion on IT services last year and that outsourcing is driving the market. Indian companies saw their revenues grow nearly 30%.
