Delay of Windows Server update, 64-bit OS may benefit Linux

Microsoft has delayed release of an update to its Windows Server software as well as the first version of Windows to support 64-bit x86 chips. The delay could inadvertently give Linux a leg up, noting that 64-bit versions of that operating system are available that support both IBM's DB2 and Oracle's database software.

IBM will try to reduce the damage of its offshore outsourcing practices by finding jobs for many of the 5000 jobs sent overseas.

GPS phone for kids a good call for parents

If cell phones were cereal, a new one from South Korea's SK Telecom Co. would be Lucky Charms. The company has cranked out a sweet mobile that's tailor-made for kids -- it comes in cool colors and has an antenna shaped like an ear. What the kids may not know is that the phone also packs a GPS device so Mom and Dad always know where their little wireless wonder has wandered. So it's the cell phone that's really good for kids -- maybe it's more like Life cereal.
