We recently made a change to a COBOL inspect statement from replacing to converting. It is expected to save $800k per year in CPU costs. Are there any other COBOL quick hits like these out here? Generally, how does one find and recognize these?

[Search390.com]
A Search390.com user asked:
My client is trying to determine whether or not GDDM and ADMPRINT started tasks are being used by anyone on the system. The prevalent opinion is "no", but is there any way to know for sure? I am tempted to say "just stop the ADMPRINT STC and see if you get any calls" but is there a surer way to know? How about GDDM irrespective of ADMPRINT?

I would like to ask you if there are other general standard invoicing principles/models that are generally used and to what degree these models depend on the vendor's system management tool?
