FORUMS:
SMB vs BLSR
A user asked in our developer forum:
My programmers use BLSR for their batch. Sometime we have insufficient storage because my programmers specify more buffers. They try to reduce the buffers and they get one point that their batch can finish. I read VSAM demystified and some white paper from Mainstar Crop. I asked my programmer to use SMB because many books said SMB is faster and it is flexible than BLSR. They told me BLSR is faster because SMB will tune batch by batch and SMB does not do for whole system. They said they submit
many batches at the same time with SMB feature and they got insufficient storage. I can not believe that but I do not have evident. I told them if you use SMB with ACCBIAS=SYSTEM then system will calculate number of buffers for them. Have anyone can explain me more about SMB and have some suggestion for me? I believe that SMB is faster and flexible (first important) than BLSR.
Do you have a response? If so, post it here.

Free stuff is good; free beer is award-winningly good
[The Register]
Software company Analytical Graphics Inc. in Pennsylvania was named "Best Small Company to Work for in America." What makes it so great? Free beer on Fridays for one. Free laundry service, free meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), free snacks and free soft drinks all week long. Employees also get to use a gym -- for free -- so they don't get too fat and happy. This story begs two questions: How do these people get anything done and
are they hiring?
