Enabling TCP/IP connectivity
[Search390.com]
A Search390.com user asked: I am cloning some Linux images in z/VM and assigning a new IP address for each one. To activate these new cloned Linux images, I need to either IPL the z/VM system or recycle TCP/IP on z/VM. Are there any other ways to perform a so called "dynamic" activation of the new cloned Linux images without IPLing z/VM or recyling TCP/IP on z/VM?

How is the OBEYFILE TCP/IP command used in VM?
[Search390.com]
A Search390.com user asked: We are using OSA/2 for FTP on our VM/ESA 2.3. How can I dynamically add a new route on VM TCP? I have heard about using OBEYFILE command. Where can I find more detail about the command information? Could you give me some examples?

Using MVS sockets interface to get TCP/IP traffic out of CICS
[Search390.com]
A Search390.com user asked: We execute z/OS 1.4 and CICS TS 2.2 on our mainframe. We are attempting to implement an HTTP post from CICS to a Web server. Looking at the documentation it does not look like it is possible. We can make an HTTP call to CICS but it looks like we can't make an HTTP call from within CICS. The only way it seems is through Java using the JVM. We are planning to try this by linking from a COBOL
module to a Java program running within Unix services. Is this possible? Is there a better way?
