I am the first to admit that I make mistakes. Often, they are just because I am rushing. Other times I am just not paying attention or I am in over my head.

For example, once after going food shopping I brought a bag of clothes to a donation station. I throw it in the box and drove home. When I got home, I noticed that the bag of clothes was still in my back seat but my bag of groceries ... You guessed it, I throw my groceries in the box.

I was so mad with myself at the time but now I can laugh about it. Since then, I have never thrown another bag of groceries in a clothes donation box. I guess the value of mistakes is they teach us hard lessons.

For example, once in college, I had a very long take home final. I finished it and clicked save on my trusty old Brother word processor. While it saved, I thought I would start packing up my room so I went to unplug my mini-fridge. You know what happened. I lost the entire document. It took me days to rewrite. But you know what? I have never lost a document since. I often go overboard when backing up files but they are always safe.

I hope these two tales serve as a cautionary tale for you. First, always check the bag before throwing it in a clothes donation box. Second, always save your work multiple ways.
