ADVICE:  Conversion and performance issues
A Search390.com user asked Jim Schesvold, our z/OS expert:
We have a large, old (non-LE) PLI application being converted to Enterprise COBOL. What performance issues and/or overhead will b incurred with both the COBOL/LE CICS and batch programs? We will be installing on z/OS v1.4 on a 9672-R46 that is running close to maximum capacity and I am worried about not having enough CPU to handle it.

The Missing Link

Cell phone jammers mean 'no service' at church service
[Associated Press]
Jamming in church? You bet -- and lots of it. Four churches in Monterrey, Mexico -- tired of the modern-day mating call known as the cell phone ring -- have installed cell phone jammers behind pictures of the Madonna and statues of saints, thus offering sanctuary to worshippers tired of hearing noisy Nokias during Mass. The practical technology has tactical origins -- it helped Israeli security forces thwart phone-triggered bombings. And even though the private use of cell phone blockers is illegal in the U.S., you've got to wish the technology were "coming to a theater near you."
