LEAD STORY
"IBM holds its own in weak economy, despite hardware
revenue up"
Although iSeries revenue declined from the second quarter
of last year, things could be looking up. The platform saw
an improvement over its dismal first quarter, IBM said.
According to Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) estimates, iSeries
second-quater revenue topped $549 million, down only 2% from
revenue of $560 million the second quarter of 2000. Nevertheless,
iSeries revenue was up
significantly in Europe.
