The tool is a set of executable files simulating types of activities that a Notes user would be doing on a Domino server. The software reports the average number of Notes transactions completed per minute and the maximum number of users that can be supported with a response time of less than five seconds. Hundreds of thousands of people have downloaded the preventative patch Microsoft has issued for its server software. While Code Red launches a denial-of-service attack, it's real threat to most users is its ability to slow down the Internet. In seeking out other computers to degrade, the worm can bog down the Net with extraneous data requests, slowing sites to a near halt.
