Further, the report says, XP users will have no trouble downloading alternative JVMs for the platform. The group takes issue with the paid placement strategies of eight leading Internet search engines, including AltaVista, DirectHit, HotBot, iWon, LookSmart, Lycos, MSN, and Netscape. But analysts say that these ads are critical to the success of search engines.
