Application portability promises that a J2EE application will run identically on any application server -- WebLogic, WebSphere, TomCat, Oracle's 9iAS, or SilverStream's Application Server. The benefit of application portability is of course simple to understand in business terms -- avoid vendor-lock and enjoy the many benefits of open standards. http://searchmiddleware.techtarget.com/originalContent/1,289142,sid26_gci781608,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- THE MISSING LINK | Customer information exposed by hacker Quite a few men may have some explaining to do to their wives and girlfriends -- explaining what they were doing with the Visa on Playboy.com's online store. (They were reading the articles of course!). The credit card numbers of Playboy customers were denuded thanks to a hacker, who sent e-mails to some of his victims. Purchases made as far back as 1996 could have been exposed. This whole affair has made Playboy's skin crawl. The company has launched a huge investigation.
