BCC CUTS PRICES | News: The Four Hundred

A month after IBM reduced prices on some of its iSeries disk
drives, BCC -- the only other provider of internal disk drives
for AS/400 and iSeries servers -- dropped prices for some
AS/400 and iSeries disk drives by up to 25%.

FAST400 GOVERNOR-BUSTER CODE CHANGES |News: The Four Hundred
Here's the latest chapter in the continuing saga of the controversial
Fast400 tool from TigerTools, which tricks the
green-screen governors that IBM has been putting into OS/400
since it first announced server models in 1993. It now appears
TigerTools' site is down, but not for the reasons you might think. It
looks as if another company is getting ready to market the Fast400
product.

THE BUMBLEBEE BUZZ CONTINUES | News: The Four Hundred
Following on the heels of the recently announced, preconfigured
low-end iSeries server by IBM and International Business Systems,
another specialized iSeries server has been announced. This one, from
Intentia International and IBM, targets small and midsize businesses
looking to acquire the Java-based Movex NextGen ERP
and e-business application suite from Intentia.

WEB SERVICES DEVELOPMENT | searchMiddleware Best Web Links

Among the many promises of J2EE perhaps most important is the
promise of application portability. Application portability
promises that a J2EE application will run identically on any
application server -- WebLogic, WebSphere, TomCat, Oracle's
9iAS, or SilverStream's Application Server. The benefit of
application portability is of course simple to understand in
business terms -- avoid vendor-lock and enjoy the many benefits
of open standards.

THE MISSING LINK | Customer information exposed by hacker

Quite a few men may have some explaining to do to their wives
and girlfriends -- explaining what they were doing with the
Visa on Playboy.com's online store. (They were reading the
articles of course!). The credit card numbers of Playboy
customers were denuded thanks to a hacker, who sent e-mails to
some of his victims. Purchases made as far back as 1996 could
have been exposed. This whole affair has made Playboy's skin
crawl. The company has launched a huge investigation.
