While a plethora of Linux applications stands to make Linux the
ultimate middleware for the iSeries, the platform's limited
potential for Linux server consolidation could hinder Linux's
ability to plump up the iSeries install base, some experts say.

REMOTE JOURNALING TO A BACKUP ISERIES 400 | Advice: search400
One member writes, "I have set up remote journaling to a backup
iSeries 400. I need to apply the journalled changes. I don't
understand how to use the RCVJRNE command with an exit program or
the QjoRetreiveJournalEntries API. Where can I find an example of
how it would be coded?" Systems management expert Richard Belles
offers some advice.

THE MISSING LINK | Fired at the touch of a button
Getting the boot is tough. Giving the boot has never been easier
thanks to some new sacking software. Business Layers, the U.S.
company that's "fired up" about its virtual guillotine, says one
click locks up the e-mail, kills the phone extension and computer
password, closes payroll, cancels the corporate credit cards and
voids the passkeys of the sacked subordinate. It even tells the
IT guy to come get the unlucky person's computer. Business Layers
could be poised to do some big business -- given the fact that
pink slips are so en vogue these days.
