Where will your iSeries career take you?
Wouldn't it be great if there were a crystal ball you could look into and see exactly what the iSeries future held for you? Will you be getting that well deserved raise or is it time to start looking for a new position? Should you continue your iSeries education?

Although we here at Search400 cannot offer you a crystal ball, we can offer you our very own career expert, Vic Sbrega. As principal of AS/400 Personnel Agency, Vic closely monitors the iSeries hiring scene. He can tell you what's going on in the industry and what may be coming down the road.

Vic will be the guest moderator for our event Your iSeries career: What to expect in 2002 March 25-29. If you have questions about your iSeries career, mark your calendar. You won't want to miss this opportunity to get your questions answered by an industry expert.

This week we also have a feature article -- Recovery slow for iSeries job market -- that describes how iSeries professionals are handling the struggling economy and what direction the iSeries job market is heading, as well a featured topic -- Your iSeries career -- that pulls together all the career and salary information we have on the site.

For more information, you may also visit our Ask the Expert career section where each week Vic answers users questions. And check out this past online event, Your AS/400 career: What should you do to stay competitive and in demand?

This Week: In the forums
>> How to FTP a file from a PC to the 400
One user writes, "Help! I've read so many examples of this process, but have yet to get one to work. There's always a glitch. Any ideas?" One suggestion was made. Do you have any others?

>> Client Access and static IP addresses
Does anyone know why Client Access will not connect to an AS/400, V4R5, when a static IP address is used. It works fine with a DHCP assigned IP address. Share your ideas.

Tip of the Week:
A new way to start TCP/IP with V5R1
Prior to OS/400 V5R1, administrators were locked into a fairly familiar pattern when starting TCP/IP. With V5R1, IBM has added a new parameter to its IPL attributes that allows you to start TCP/IP upon an OS/400 IPL without having to edit the startup program. Check out this tip from Joe Hertvik for more information on IBM's recent changes concerning starting TCP/IP.
