Today's Featured Tip
==================================================================

Seven steps to a Java Web database application

It would be great if iSeries programmers knew how to use Java to
create e-business applications, but programmers can still forge
ahead if they aren't trained in Java yet. WebSphere tools make it
easy, and Jim Mason and Dave Slater show you just how easy it can
be to build a Java Web database application.

Answers to Other Technical Questions
===========================================================

1. Display data from the iSeries 400 on a Web page
One user writes, "I would like to pull data from the iSeries 400
and display the information on a Web page using active server
pages. Do you know how this can be done?" Search400 Web
development expert Jim Mason offers some advice.

2. Hosting two Web pages on the same machine
This user is currently hosting a Web page on a 170 with V4R2M0.
He'd like to host another Web page on that same machine and
wonders how to go about it. Check out this expert Q&A to see what
was suggested.

3. Eliminate annoying JobLog completion messages
Is your JOBLOG outq filling up with annoying JobLog completion
messages after a JDBC connection from a servlet? Look at the
Joblogs in your Joblog outq and see if you find some that have Job
nnnnnn/QEJB/QZSOSIGN started on ... in subsystem ... in it. Does
it show that it ended with CPF1164 Completion 00? If you are
getting many joblogs with this completion message, you'll want to
check out this tip. Search400 user Paul Ladouceur shows you how
you can end this nuisance.

4. Call a COBOL program from Java
This user writes, "I am trying to call a COBOL program from Java.
I'm able to call the program and pass parameters, but I'm unable
to receive any back." Jim Mason shares an article he recently
wrote that covers the easiest way to handle this.
