Use ABTOBJUSR command to eliminate batch job headache

Have you ever submitted a batch job only to find out it has failed
because there happened to be a user session accessing the file?
This can be quite annoying. Search400 expert Dwight Beech has
written a program that allows developers or administrators to warn
users accessing a file, program, data area, etc. and then end
their session if needed before you submit the batch job.

Answers to Other Programmer Questions
====================================================================

1. Debug a long running batch job
"Raju400" wondered how to debug a batch that had been running for a
long time. He turned to the Search400 Programmer Forum for advice.

2. Accessing any job's QTEMP
There have been numerous requests from programmers who want to access
and manipulate with a job's QTEMP library. It is used for debugging
and/or recovering from a job that has fallen over with a MSGW status.
Check out this tip by David Ong to learn how to do just that.

3. Error with SBMJOB command
One user writes, "When I try to retrieve the MSGQ with RTVJOBA
SBMMSGQ (&MSGQ) command, I sometimes get *NONE. Can you please
explain this?" Application development expert John Brandt offers some
advice.

4. Debugging batch jobs
Search400 member Russell Rollins explains how using your interactive
screen to debug a batch job submitted to the job queue allows you to
put the batch job into debug mode and to set breakpoints without
having to change the program to run interactively. Check out this tip
to see why our members voted it into the Search400 Hall of Fame.
